The Celestial Pearl Danio is often referred to in the aquarium trade as the Galaxy Rasbora or Microrasbora ‘Galaxy’. This is another small cyprinid from Myanmar (Burma). This is a very rare fish that was discovered in 2006, however, the species quickly blew up in the aquarium trade in 2007 where its small size and bright colors made it an instant hit. Immature fish show some indication of a striped pattern, which eventually decomposes into the pearly dots.

Celestial Pearl Danios are a freshwater fish found in small, vegetated ponds in South East Asia. These miniature or micro rasbora fish have lots of spectacular color from the white pearl-like spots on their sides, to the red coloration on the fins. Many people say these fish look a lot like brook trout or mini german brown trout.

Galaxy Rasboras are well suited for tanks that are packed with plants and vegetation and other colorful fish that mimic their peaceful nature. It is true that these fish are timid, they work perfectly in communities full of Guppies, Mollies and Tetras.

This fish is a personal favorite of ours as these spotted fish are an incredibly aesthetically pleasing addition to most any fresh water community tank. These social creatures are great for schooling. Their bright reds mixed with the black and white bodies makes them a gorgeous fish to observe.

Stocking suggestion about 2 per gallon, factor in potential losses during acclimation as these are fragile starters at first couple days, once they are established, they will become more stable in their new environment and you will enjoy their beauty for a long time. Rasboras do not require a heated environment as they can tolerate cooler temps indoors without the use of a supplemental heater. Rasboras are still a tropical fish so they cannot get cold but they do well in all tropical waters ranging from 71 – 85 degrees.
