Boesemani Rainbowfish  Melanotaenia boesemani

Size: up to 3",  pH: 6.5 - 7.2  GH: 5 - 10  Temp: 70 - 80F,  Origin: Thailand

 A colorful and popular egg-laying omnivore with amazing colors of yellow, orange and purple on the posterior of the body.  A great specimen fish for any aquarium!  It has very large eyes and a black or silvery band that runs through the middle scale rows, mouth and two dorsal fins.  This is one of the most peaceful schooling Rainbowfish that does best in a fully planted aquarium with plenty of swimming room.  Looks best in aquariums with darker substrates.  Boesemani's will spawn on mosses throughout several days. Baby frye will hatch after six days.  Very easy to care for.

Another colorful and popular egg-laying, omnivore fish like the Boesemani, except these can handle a little cooler water and a slightly more acid water condition.  These are ideal in a school with other fish like Discus, Angels, Gouramis or even livebearers.   Require a planted aquarium for best results.

How about an alternative to the common angelfish?  This is a beautiful variety of Rainbowfish that's care level is moderate to easy.  The males have long threads extending from their dorsal and anal fins.  A very peaceful, egglaying, schooling fish that must be in a planted aquarium for best results.  Prefers to eat floating foods off of the surface of the water, some planktonic algae, but not interested in eating crustaceans.

Size: up to 2.8"  pH: 7.0 - 8.0 dH: 8-15  Temp: 68 - 77F  Origin: Australia; Eastern Queensland and the Cape York Peninsula

This Rainbowfish is an elongated and laterally compressed fish with a small head and a large eye.  There are two dorsal fins, and the anal fin has a long base.  The male is silver with a blue iridescence. The flanks are marked with seven lateral stripes.  These are yellow becoming red near at the caudal penuncle.  The gill cover is marked with an orange-red spot.  The fins have a greenish base with blood red outer parts.   The colors of the females are less intense.   Rainbowfish require frequent partial water changes to fully develop its colors.  This is a robust fish ideal for any community aquarium!

We always ship live good orders NEXT DAY SERVICE ONLY VIA FEDEX.  YOU MUST HAVE YOUR ORDER PLACED BY MONDAY NIGHT @ 7PM MST FOR A SAME WEEK DELIVERY.  ORDERS PLACED AFTER OUR ORDER DEADLINE WILL SHIP THE FOLLOWING WEEK ON THURSDAY!

WE DO NOT SELL SEXED FISH OR SHRIMP.  Please do not ask us to send you pairs or certain sexes of animals, we do not offer this service.  If you require a pair of fish/shrimp, then we highly suggest that you order more than you need in the event there are losses in your shipment anyway.

Deliveries will typically arrive to you the next morning before noon depending on your service area.  You will get an email from us the night we ship your package!  No email? Then you probably will not have a package coming this week, BUT, Check your "Deleted files, or Spam folders" for emails from us. If we have your valid email, WE WILL send you an email with your tracking number. You can always email us as well to see, just make sure you use a "return receipt request" with your email. We may not get it due to so much spam out there.
