A
colorful and popular egg-laying omnivore with amazing colors of yellow,
orange and purple on the posterior of the body. A great specimen
fish for any aquarium! It has very large eyes and a black or silvery
band that runs through the
middle scale rows, mouth and two dorsal fins. This is one of the
most peaceful schooling Rainbowfish that does best in a fully planted
aquarium with plenty of swimming room. Looks best in aquariums with
darker substrates. Boesemani's will spawn on mosses throughout several
days. Baby frye will hatch after six days. Very easy to care for.

How about an alternative
to the common angelfish? This is a beautiful variety of Rainbowfish
that's care level is moderate to easy. The males have long threads
extending from their dorsal and anal fins. A very peaceful, egglaying,
schooling fish that must be in a planted aquarium for best results.
Prefers to eat floating foods off of the surface of the water, some planktonic
algae, but not interested in eating crustaceans.

This Rainbowfish
is an elongated and laterally compressed fish with a small head and a
large eye. There are two dorsal fins, and the anal fin has a long
base. The male is silver with a blue iridescence. The flanks are
marked with seven lateral stripes. These are yellow becoming
red near at the caudal penuncle. The gill cover is marked with an
orange-red spot. The fins have a greenish base with blood red outer
parts. The colors of the females are less intense.
Rainbowfish require frequent partial water changes to fully develop its
colors. This is a robust fish ideal for any community aquarium!
