Crinum Americana Water Onion Aquarium Plant
Crinum Americana a.k.a. Common Water Onion (Crinum thaianum) Light: L-H
Water Onions! Remember these awesome water onions we used to sell here for the past 25 years? Some people called them Ribbon Grass Onions, or Common Water Onions. They grow so easily and tall under just about any condition of water and were great for African Cichlid tanks, but to get them to reproduce is difficult, so most folks have to import from places in Sri Lanka or Sinagpore. After a while, exporters stopped shipping this plant, and it turns out that this plant is now on the endangered species list in its native! The only one’s truly left out here in the US are plants from private tanks or left-over collections. Importing this plant is now history (at least until farmers in the Far East can begin to cultivate it. So if you want some of these guys, we actually have about 50 that we will sell in April, and we’ll see how many more we can offer in the future! POSTED MAR 31, 2011
