Regular Blue Rams were originally first introduced to the hobby in 1946 and were called Apistogramma ramireziry in 1948.  Although it was described as an Apistogramma it was later renamed in 1958 Microgeophagus in the early 1980’s.  Correctly renamed Mikrogeophagus in 1998.  Lots of history and lots of worldwide arguing has gone on with this genus for decades!

Timid, very-peaceful, community dwarf cichlid from South America. Previously placed in the genus Apistogramma, and later in the genus Microgeophagus, but the most recent classification may now be found under Papiliochromis. This VERY peaceful miniature carnivore will add a splash of color to your aquarium. Ram's love a well-planted, warm-water tank. See also Gold Rams!
