Golden Clams - Substrate Burrower

THERE MAY BE A WAIT ON THESE FROM TIME TO TIME.

a.k.a. Freshwater Asian Clams

(Corbicula fluminea)

Native to: Tropical South Asia, Africa, and Austrailia

Larger than a nickel, smaller than a silver dollar, and usually about the size of a Quarter. You do not need to feed them, they are filter feeders, and they will feed off micro-organisms and waste in your aquarium! When you first get them, acclimate them as you would any other new fish, drop them in your aquarium, and gently push them just a touch into your substrate. They prefer to bury themselves in "small" gravel or sand substrates, so no larger- sized rock substrates. They will move around on their own, and will NOT disturb your plants or their roots.

STOCKING INFO: for aquariums use 1 snail per 6 square inches of substrate space. For Ponds use up to 1 per gallon.

Minimum order: No less than 10Do freshwater clams breed parasites?

QUESTION: I heard that when freshwater clams breed, their offspring are parasites that kill the fish is this true?

ANSWER: No! Their offspring are not parasites, they are clams. The same water filterers not parasites. Not sure where you heard that but that is not true. There is a difference between freshwater mussels and freshwater clams this is where the confusion comes in. Mussell larve are, Clams are not. Mussells are not clams and are also illegal to sell.

Recieved exactly what I ordered. All alive, shells all opened and burrowing began within minutes of adding them to my substrate. Very pleased.
