Hygrophila pinnatifida or Phoenix Fern Hygro Bunched Aquarium Plant Hygrophila pinnatifida was announced at the end of 2010 by Tropica Plants of Denmark, Popular in Europe and now making its way into the US, this plant has been sold on places like eBay for about $20.00 per stem! We now have this plant available and will try to continue to offer it indefinitely. We sell these as a bundle of at least 4 or 5 stems per bunch, bargain priced. Hygrophila pinnatifida is native to India. The leaves are a brown/green on the top side and has a very distinctive deep burgundy red side underneath. The Stems produce side shoots that may be propagated and the tops should be trimmed to promote more compact growth and keep it full. Red coloring becomes more intense under strong light and elevated C02 levels. Growth is slow to moderate, making the plant easy to manage in the aquarium! The combination of the leaf-shape & color give this stemmed plant a distinctive and unique look! This species is not as prolific as other Hygrophilas tend to be, which will be advantageous for those not wanting to be stuck trimming every week! This is a relatively easy to grow plant surely to become one of the highest a high demanding plants in 2012!
