Myriophyllum Mattogrossense Green Form Bunched Aquarium Plant

Myriophyllum mattogrossense
is a newer addition to the aquarium trade.  This is a spreading variety of stem plant.  Myriophyllum mattogrossense is easy to grow and will tolerate a wide variety of light and water conditions allowing almost anyone to be successful with this true aquarium plant.  Myriophyllum mattogrossense is native to South America, Ecuador & Peru.  Will do great even in fast moving shallow water and will also grow emerged (above water) on riverbanks.  Fast growing, moderate lighting is its main necessity.  There is no need for having a CO2 system although using one will allow it to grow even faster.  Sold as a bunched plant with about 4 to 6 stems per bunch.  Pruning is necessary to keep it under control and the tops of the plant can be replanted to grow again.  Use a liquid fertilizer for best results.   A great plant for sucking up nutrients that may cause or contruibyte to algae blooms!  Myriophyllum mattogrossense exhibits a light green color under normal aquarium conditions.  Like many plants this color changes from light green under moderate light to a browner color under higher light intensity.  Myriophyllum mattogrossense has an interesting characteristic in the genus.  Under high light intensity the stems will lie down and root along the bottom to spread out and form a colony. Other varieties of Myriophyllum that we grow will do this but to a much lesser extent.  This is not completely unique as many aquatic plants do this under high light intensity however Myriophyllum mattogrossense is more likely than the other varieties.  Myriophyllum mattogrossense also has the added benefit of adding a unique texture to the aquarium, different from other plants in its genus. Most Myriophyllum species have a sufficient amount of leaves to give the plant a full, frilly look, however Myriophyllum mattogrossense shows its individual leaves which give it a completely different appearance, like Cabomba.

Sorry, this plant not shippable to City of Chicago only.
