The Neon Tetra is one of the most popular freshwater tropical fish in the industry. Iridescent blue body and bright red tails make this an easy to identify fish. This fish will create a color explosion in any aquarium, especially when kept in large schools. Use at least six or more in a school. A collection of 50 to 100 Tetras in a large aquarium is quite a beautiful site to watch.
Neons are native to the clear water streams of South America. The Neon Tetra prefers densely planted aquariums with plenty of low light areas to hide. Create its natural habitat with plants on driftwood for added areas of refuge. This is an extremely peaceful fish. The Neon Tetra should be kept with similarly non-aggressive tankmates of a similar size. Thrives in slightly acidic water with stable water parameters.
