Swallow Tail Catfish By: Arizona Aquatic Gardens Part number:
Swallow Tail Catfish
a.k.a. African Glass Catfish, Debauwi Catfish Native to: Nigeria, Africa. Freshwater rivers of Nigeria, Cameroon and probably Gabon and Zaire.
A peaceful, omnivorous schooling catfish that is lively and active by day. Needs tankmates of its species since single specimens feel insecure. Recommended for a community tank. Low-light tanks with floating plants are ideal and provide lots of swimming room. Use a strong filter to create a current but otherwise the species makes few demands on water conditions. Use darker gravels on the bottom. Peat filtration is helpful because it darkens the water. Sexing: Females have a larger stomach, tough to tell though. Although these are very difficult to breed, they are very easy to keep. If frye are successful, they will grow rapidly! pH-6-7 Temp: 72-82 (ideal 77 degrees)![]() only $7.99
