Bio-Available
Iron Supplement for Increased Coloration
Freshwater Supplement
Available In: 16oz
Background:
Many
aquatic plants take in nutrients not only through through
their roots, but also through their leaves. This being the
case, liquid supplements that contain the nutrients
essential to the health and long-term maintenance of these
plants can be used. There is a major benefit to using
liquid supplements versus solid root additives: you can dose
a liquid daily and calculate to within a small percentage
how much of a given substance is in the system and available
to plants. This is typically not the case with tablet
fertilizers, which dissolve at different rates. The
amount of supplement required depends on the stocking
density of the aquarium, light intensity, and whether or not
CO2 is supplemented. Iron is considered a micronutrient for
plants. Like magnesium, iron is needed for production
of chlorophyll and activates many enzymes used in metabolic
reactions. Many plants with natural red pigmentation
intensify in color when an iron supplement is properly
utilized. Formula Fe provides high quality bioavailable iron
for your plants. The Kent Botanica line presents hobbyists
with planted aquariums a range of supplements to help
increase growth, coloration, and overall health of their
aquatic plants without the use of hormones. Formula Fe
was formulated to work in conjunction with Botanica Grow, K,
Micro, Nitro+, Phos+, GH+, KH+, and Vita supplements. Plants
require stable appropriate water parameters, nutrients, a
source of inorganic carbon, and proper lighting (needs often
vary by species) in order to grow, bloom, reproduce, and
maintain health and coloration.
Instructions:
Dose
1 ml (9 drops) of this solution per 10 gallons (40 L) every
3 days, testing regularly with an accurate iron test kit to
maintain a concentration of 0.1 mg/L; alternately, you may
dose 0.33 ml (3 drops) per 20 gallons daily. After observing
the effect of this product on ornamental aquatic plants over
a period of 2-3 weeks, adjust dosage accordingly. While
plants and algae need more than just iron to proliferate,
iron is often considered a biolimiting nutrient; that is to
say, a sudden addition of iron to a system formerly lacking
has a potential to “grow wild”. For that reason, it is
always wise to add iron supplements at ˝ the recommended
dosage for the first two weeks until you are satisfied that
the system is in balance.

stimulate root systems.
Plants
also require strong lighting of proper spectrum and
abundant carbon dioxide in the system. If you are planning
a heavily planted tank, you may want to invest in a CO2
system. Do not use more than twice the recommended dosage.
The

Iron
& Trace Mineral Supplement for Freshwater Plants
Freshwater Water
Conditioner
Available In: 17.4 oz
Description:
This product provides bio-available iron and other
micronutrients for lush fresh water plant growth.
Contains no phosphates, nitrates, or other fertilizers
to cause unwanted algae growth.
Directions:
Add one to three teaspoons (capfuls) per 30 gallons (or
5 to 15 ml per 120 liters) of tank capacity every week,
depending on the amount of plants.
Considerations
for use: Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement provides
essential trace minerals for lush growth of freshwater
plants. Our goal is to provide Sustained Long-term
Results. To this end, Freshwater Plant Supplement
contains no fertilizers which tend to encourage unwanted
algae growth. The iron used in Freshwater Plant
Supplement is iron EDTA. It is as strong or stonger than
any plant supplement or fertilizer on the market. It is
yellow in color, and is the most expensive iron
available. It will take the place of tropical laterite,
and is easier to use. Unlike other dark brown irons, it
will stay in solution longer and provide sustained iron
to plants over a long period of time. Do not be fooled
by the lightness of the color and do not overdose your
system because of the color. Do not use more than twice
the recommended dosage. You may also want to use new
Kent Blackwater Expert which will provide superb
spawning conditions for your fish, as well as spuring
plant growth!
Plants
also require strong lighting of proper spectrum and
abundant carbon dioxide in the system. If you are
planning a heavily planted tank, you may want to invest
in a CO2 system. Metal Halide lights are excellent plant
lights if you are really serious about a beautiful plant
tank. In new aquariums or those with few or no fish,
plants may need some additional nitrates and phosphates.
If so, use a fertilizer in combination with Freshwater
Plant Supplement, but be careful, as you can easily have
an algae farm!
Freshwater
Plant Supplement can be used simultaneously with all
Kent freshwater products including Freshwater Trace
Elements, Discus Trace Elements or A F Cichlid Rift Lake
Trace Elements.
Contents:
Deionized water, iron
(chelated with EDTA), salts of
potassium, boron, manganese, magnesium, copper, cobalt,
zinc, and molybdenum, and inorganic stabilizers.
Precautions:
Not for human consumption. For Aquarium/Ornamental fish
use only. Not for fish used for human consumption. Keep
out of reach of children!

Spawning
Aid and Nutrient Supplement for Soft Water Fish &
Plants
Freshwater Water
Conditioner
Available In: 16oz
Description:
Kent Black Water Expert simulates water conditions in
natural tropical waters. It encourages spawning and
aids the hatching process. Black Water Expert improves
color and vigor of fish and reduces stress. Its
naturally chelated iron, vitamins and other organic
compounds accelerate cell division and stimulate root
systems in plants, providing for luxurious green plant
growth, yet it does not cause unsightly algae growth.
Black Water Expert is similar in composition to rich
soil in a bottle. Addition to an aquarium tints the
water a light brown or yellow color, creating
conditions much like those found in the Amazon region
of South America. Kent Black Water Expert is excellent
for Discus, Tetras, Angelfish, Barbs, Gouramis and all
other soft water fish.
Directions:
Add 1 teaspoon (1 capful or 5 ml) per 10 gallons of
tank capacity every week and after every water change.
For breeding, or very hard water use 2 teaspoons (2
capfuls or 10 ml) per 10 gallons tank capacity every
week. Use small amounts such as 1 teaspoon per 50
gallons of capacity, even in aquariums that you
don’t want to tint the water, to aid plant growth.
Considerations
for use: If using reverse osmosis, deionized or
distilled water, first use Kent R/O Right to
replace major and minor elements removed during
purification process and create artificial river
water. If using tap water, or after making artificial
water with R/O Right, use Discus Essential or
Freshwater Essential as
appropriate, to restore trace minerals lost due to
carbon, resin and other filtration, and absorbed by
fish and plants.
Adjust
pH separately, and use R/O Right to increase total
dissolved solids (i.e. GH), if required. Kent pH
STABLE will increase alkalinity (i.e. KH) and help
maintain a stable pH. Kent pH
CONTROL MINUS or TRUE pH MINUS will lower pH, if
needed.
Kent
Black Water Expert is strong. It will color the water
a yellow or light brownish color. It is recommended
that you suspend carbon and resin filtration during
use, as they may remove the product. Black Water
Expert should be used simultaneously with Freshwater
Essential or Discus Essential to provide needed trace
minerals periodically.
If
your aquarium has live plants, they will benefit
greatly from the use of Kent Black Water Expert in
addition to Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement which
will provide heavy iron and plant specific trace
minerals. Plants also require strong lighting of
proper spectrum and abundant carbon dioxide in the
system. Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement will provide
the minerals for lush green plants in established
aquariums. In new aquariums or those with few or no
fish, plants may need some additional nitrates and
phosphates. If so, use a fertilizer in combination
with Black Water Expert and Kent Freshwater
Plant Supplement, but go very slowly on the
fertilizer because overuse of the fertilizer will
encourage unwanted algae growth.
Contents:
Deionized water, naturally derived humins and
tannins , vitamins B2, B6, B12,
pantothenol, biotin, and preservatives.
Precautions:
Not for human consumption. For Aquarium/Ornamental
fish use only. Not for fish used for human
consumption. Keep out of reach of children!

| Flourish Excel™ |
 |
| Flourish Excel™ is a
simple source of readily available organic carbon. All plants require
a source of carbon. This is typically obtained from CO2,
but, may also be obtained via relatively simple organic compounds
(such as photosynthetic intermediates). Since both processes occur
simultaneously one can derive a substantial benefit with the use of
Flourish Excel™ either alone or in conjunction with CO2
injection. Flourish Excel™ also has iron reducing properties which
promote the ferrous state of iron (Fe+2), which is more
easily utilized by plants than ferric iron (Fe+3). Flourish
Excel™ is recommended for use with the entire family of Flourish™
products as well as our gravel, Flourite™, our GH builder,
Equilibrium™, and our non-phosphate buffers, Acid Buffer™ &
Alkaline Buffer™. 250 mL will treat 50 gallons for 1-2 months. |

Iron
and Mineral supplement for plant
Plant Nutrient
Available In: 16 & 64oz
Description:
This product provides bio-available iron and other micronutrients
for lush aquatic plant growth. It assists flowering plants and all
marginal and floating pond plants. It contains no phosphates,
nitrates, or silicates to cause undesirable algae or slime growths.
Kent WaterGarden Aquatic Plant Supplement will
encourage marginal and floating plants to use the nitrates and
phosphates that are naturally available from fish excrement and tap
water pollutants, thereby effectively removing those nutrients from
the algae. Use on a regular basis, particularly if leaves are
yellowing.
Directions:
Add one to three teaspoons (capfuls) per 100 gallons of water garden
capacity every week during the growing season, depending on the
number of plants.
Considerations
for use: Kent WaterGarden Aquatic Plant Supplement provides
nine essential trace minerals for lush growth of aquatic plants. Our
goal is to provide Sustained Long-term Results. To this end, Aquatic
Plant Supplement contains no fertilizers which tend to
encourage unwanted algae growth. Aquatic Plant Supplement is
as strong or stronger than any plant supplement or fertilizer on the
market. The iron used is chelated to provide for long term feeding.
It is yellow in color, and is the most expensive iron available.
Unlike iron oxide (rust) and other dark brown irons, it will stay in
solution longer and provide sustained iron to plants over a long
period of time. Do not be fooled by the lightness of the color and
do not overdose your system because of the color. Do not use more
than twice the recommended dosage.
Since Aquatic
Plant Supplement contains no fertilizers (i.e. phosphates
and nitrates), it may be necessary to supplement those nutrients for
heavy feeding plants by using a true fertilizer. If fertilizer
tablets are used, they should be applied directly to the roots of
such plants, beneath a heavy layer of mud, to prevent the
entry of the undesirable fertilizers into the water itself! Never
add products containing phosphates and nitrates directly to the
water, as this would certainly encourage green algae growth!
Contents: Deionized
water, iron, potassium, boron, manganese, magnesium, copper, cobalt,
zinc, and molybdenum, EDTA and inorganic stabilizers.
Precautions:
Not for human consumption. Not for fish used for human consumption.
