Chemicals: Freshwater Essential found at Aquarium Supplements

Food: Zoo Plankton or New Life Spectrum "Community Formula" or "H20 Stable Wafers" found at Fish Foods

This is a rare member of the loach family  At first glance it might look like a flounder of sorts, but in fact it is a very peaceful omnivore algae eater that will clean debris and algae from rocks, wood, and glass.  Males are typically larger than the females, and when they are cleaning the glass you can see their little hearts beating.  It is very beautiful to watch these fish swim across the middle of a tank.  They are small fish and stay small only to about 2.5 inches.  Click here for a side view, and for a top view.

Size at shipping: about 2", ships very well!

Chemicals: Freshwater Essential found at Aquarium Supplements

Food: New Life Spectrum "Community Formula" or "H20 Stable Wafers" found at Fish Foods

This is a bottom-dwelling scaleless fish found in India.   This particular variety of Botia is not common in the petstore.  It has a pinkish body with a black stripe that starts at it's head and stops at his tail, hence the name Skunk Botia.  Look closely at it's nose and you will see it has 4 pairs of barbells (or whiskers).  Usually referred to as a semi-aggressive fish, we've found this fish to be actually quite peaceful.  It has a very small mouth so we are not concerned about it eating our snails or shrimp.  It is a great scavenger/janitor fish and does nibble on hair algae.  The Skunk Botia loves to be with other fish of the same species.  This species also appreciates caves, logs, and rocks to hide in or under.
